Center Hill Lake

Located near Smithville, the lake's 415 miles of shoreline contains plenty of resources for water recreation and fishing. Center Hill Lake is a reservoir that serves as a drinking water resource, and a resource for power production, flood control, and recreation. This lake was constructed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in 1949 by impounding the Caney Fork River.

Fishing

The Tennessee Wildlife Resource Agency (TWRA) has worked to create an excellent environment for fishing in the lake. Center Hill Lake offers smallmouth and largemouth bass, striped bass (white bass), catfish, bluegill, walleye, brown and rainbow trout, paddlefish, spotted bass, and three types of crappie. Tennessee state record fish caught in this lake include a spotted bass in 1989 weighing 5 pounds 8 ounces, and a paddlefish weighing 75 pounds in 1984.

Boating

Center Hill Lake offer excellent boating. Nine marinas provide a variety of services such as fuel, private boat moorage, electrical and water hookups, boat rentals, fishing and marine supplies, restaurants and snack bars, and restrooms are offered by most facilities. Lodging

Rock Island, Burgess Falls, and Edgar Evins State Parks all sit along Center Hill Lake's shoreline. Edgar Evins Marina is located at that park, and campers can find four areas available for camping and RVs.

The closest major city is Nashville. Other nearby Tenessee cities; Young Bend, Jefferson, Keltonburg and Smithville. The lake is in the county of Dekalb.
