Tappan Lake, located between Cadiz and Uhrichsville in Harrison County, Ohio, provides 2,350 acres of swimming, boating and fishing waters.
The Muskingum Watershed Conservancy District (MWCD) operates the recreation facilities, which include picnic areas, campsites, cabins, boat rental, bait and food service. The lake's 47-mile shoreline presents more easily-accessible shoreline fishing than any other lake managed by the MWCD. Boat launching ramps and campgrounds are equipped for handicapped access.
The Tappan Lake Park is also a popular destination for hunting, hiking and wildlife viewing. Designated trails include a six mile Fox Trail, a two mile Pine Trail, a four mile Deer Trail, a Cabin Beach Trail, a Nature Trail and a Turkey Ridge Trail.
The Ohio Department of Natural Resources, Division of Wildlife stocks the lake with saugeye. As a result, saugeye fishing is growing in popularity at Tappan Lake.
