Berlin Lake

Berlin Lake is situated in the northeastern Ohio countryside within a short drive of Akron, Youngstown and Warren. The lake covers 3,590 acres, surrounded by 70 miles of shoreline with gently to moderately sloped banks. Beech and maple trees cover the area, offering shade and beautiful color. schemes in the fall.

A variety of wildlife makes its home around the lake. Binoculars are recommended to enhance delight in viewing nesting ospreys. bald eagles ad other wonders of nature.

The Mill Creek Recreation Area, located on Berlin Lake, offers a wide variety of recreational opportunities including camping, boating, picnicking or just relaxing in the peaceful surroundings.

The lake is a popular location for swimming but there is no designated beach and no lifeguard on duty.

Fishing

With an average depth of about 16 feet Berlin Lake is renowned for its excellent walleye fishing. It is one of few lakes in the area in which the walleye population is sustained via natural reproduction.

Anglers will also enjoy fishing for largemouth and smallmouth bass, muskie, crappie and bluegill, all of which abound in the lake.

Fishing supplies are available through concessionaires located around the lake.

Boating

Although there are no horsepower restrictions on Berlin Lake, there are 5 special zones that designate varying rules for speed limits, wake zones, water-skiing, and sailboats only.

Boats ranging from small fishing boats and sailboats to large cruisers and runabouts of unlimited horsepower frequent Berlin Lake Numerous launching ramps are located around the lake.

There are several private marinas and concessionaires located around the lake with boat launch ramps, docking, maintenance, and retail facilities which sell fishing and boating supplies.

Please note the zones marked around the lake and obey the 10 mph speed limit enforced on Berlin Lake from sunset to sunrise.



       
Lodging

The Mill Creek Recreation Area offers 348 camp sites on a “first come, first served” basis. The offering is diverse in that you can choose from wooded waterfront sites to grassy spots in the sun. Amenities include a dump station, showers, flush restrooms, a boat ramp, playgrounds, volleyball court and nature trail. The Mill Creek Recreation Area campground is open from Memorial Day through Labor Day.

Communities

Cleveland is the closest major city to Berlin Lake. Other nearby Ohio cities: Deerfield, Warren, Akron and Youngstown. The lake is located in Mahoning, Portage and Stark counties.
