Black Bayou Reservoir

Black Bayou Reservoir on the Black Bayou in northwest Louisiana is a reservoir that offers water skiing, boating, swimming, and fishing. This reservoir is not to be confused with Black Bayou Lake located near Monroe, Louisiana. Black Bayou Reservoir is located in Bossier Parish, about eight miles north of Shreveport and three miles southeast of Benton, Louisiana.

Black Bayou Reservoir was formed by an earthen dam on Black Bayou. Average depth is about 10 feet, with maximum depths of 20 feet. The shallower water is in the northern area, where anglers can barely feel wakes created by water skiers near the deeper areas at the dam site. The dam and spillway are located in the south part of this reservoir, just across Parks Road from Cypress Bayou Reservoir.

Fishing

Anglers at Black Bayou Reservoir go after largemouth bass, crappie and channel catfish. This is a popular fishing reservoir among those anglers in the know, because it sees less fishing pressure than nearby Cypress Bayou Reservoir, Caddo Lake, or Cross Lake

Boating

Boaters have access to a boat ramp with parking. Power boats are allowed. Anglers also have access to a pier with disability access, and bank fishing is allowed.

       
Lodging

Black Bayou Reservoir is part of the Cypress Black Bayou Park & Recreation Area, which is located on the eastern shore of nearby Cypress Bayou Reservoir. This park offers 73 sites for RVs with water and electricity, and 15 tent sites that also include water and electricity. With this reservoir's close proximity to Shreveport, visitors can find a wide variety of accommodations between the lake and that city, and also in surrounding areas west toward Benton or east toward Cypress Bayou Reservoir.

Black Bayou Reservoir is located in Bossier Parish, Louisiana, just eight miles north of Shreveport and three miles southeast of Benton, Louisiana. Shreveport airport is located nine miles north from the center of Shreveport, and a little over 20 miles from Black Bayou Reservoir.
