Lake Tobesofkee

Lake Tobesofkee is located in Bibb County, Georgia, and is a reservoir along the Tobesofkee Creek just west of Macon's city limits. Known to locals as "The Tobo," this highly-visited recreational lake is located three miles from I-475. The Tobesofkee Recreation Area contains three public parks -- Claystone, Sandy Beach, and Arrowhead. Visitors can enjoy boating, fishing, camping, tennis, swimming, hiking, and picnicking along a 35-mile shoreline.


Fishing


The largemouth bass population at this lake is past its 12-year average, and continues to thrive at 15-25 inches in size. Other fish species stocked at this lake include striped bass, crappie, bream, and catfish. Chain pickerel are on the increase, especially in the water willow grass beds above and below the lower Thomaston Road Bridge. This lake welcomes boat and bank fishing.

Boating

The best boat ramps are located at Claystone and Arrowhead, and they include ample parking. An undeveloped ramp is located off Bonner Gilbert Road in the "fingers" area. There are no limits on motors or size on this lake.

       
Lodging

Arrowhead and Claystone Parks are open 365 days, and tents or RVs are welcome. Both campgrounds provide full power and water, and offer laundries and full-time park ranger staffs. All Claystone Park campsites are paved, and half of Arrowhead Park campsites are paved.

If you prefer lodging at a hotel, B&B, or resort, you can find plenty of accommodations in surrounding small towns and east at Macon, Georgia. Macon offers over 4,500 rooms in areas that also contain plenty of restaurants, shopping, and attractions. Macon is home to the Georgia State Fair and the Cherry Blossom Festival. Communities

Located in Bibb County, Georgia, Lake Tobesofkee is a popular urban reservoir, especially during the summer. Its close proximity to Macon, however, provides entire families with activities year 'round. Located a little over 85 miles south of Atlanta, Georgia, this lake is easily accessible along I-75 north and south via I-475 east of Macon.
